Question:

Some of the Du’aat, may Allaah guide them, say that the term “Salafi” splits the people, so don’t say “I’m a Salafi”…

Shaykh Saaleh Al Fawzaan interjects:

Yes. Yes. The term “Salafi” splits the people.Between the Salafis and the innovators and people of misguidance. All praise is to Allaah. This is a characteristic that the people are upon the Madhhab of the Salaf.

“”And I have followed the religion of my fathers, – Ibrahim (Abraham), Ishaq (Isaac) and Ya’qub (Jacob) [عليهم السلام], and never could we attribute any partners whatsoever to Allah. This is from the Grace of Allah to us and to mankind, but most men thank not (i.e. they neither believe in Allah, nor worship Him). (Surah Yusuf: 38)

Following the Salaf in ‘Aqeedah and Tawheed is honorable and praiseworthy. We are proud (about this) and we ask Allaah to make us upon the Madhhab of the Salaf, and to make us firm upon it. Yes. Even if we split them, we don’t unite the people (upon anything), we don’t unite the people (upon anything), we call them to the Madhhab of the Salaf and the correct beliefs. If they accept, then All praise is to Allaah. If they want to split, then they chose it for themselves. Yes.
