A Word of Truth on Shaykh Muhammad Aman Al Jami

Yes, I have met Shaykh Muhammad Amaan al Jaami -رحمه الله- and I sat in his classes, even though I’m not from his students that were very close to him. However, I attended his classes, attended his lectures at the University, and I met him personally. I saw amazing piety and observation of (the commands of) Allaah in this man, and I saw a heart that is reverent and fearful. I saw in his classes that he was raised on the way of the early generations (of Muslims). He used to prohibit his students from delving into matter that don’t concern them. He used to deal with the people based on their level. He was fervent in giving advice -رحمه الله- to everyone he met. He was a person of Tawheed. He was dedicated to Tawheed and would raise (others) upon Tawheed and taught it. He was a caller to adhering to the Jamaa’ah (main body) of the Muslims and their Imaam (leader), just as the Prophet -صلى الله عليه وسلم- ordered.
When the war occurred in Kuwait; this fitnah (tribulation) that exposed many of the dormant ideologies, and (some) people had stood up against the leaders of Saudi Arabia because they sought foreign military assistance to remove the oppression over Kuwait and its people, Shaykh Muhammad Amaan stood up – and with him a group of his brothers from among the scholars- with a clarification that this type of Isti’aanah (seeking assistance) is permissible, legislated, and it is the Truth. He refuted the betrayers who used to send tapes to the army that encouraged them to abandon aiding their brothers, which triggered the aggression of people against him. And Allaah Willed that his reward would continue after his death. So there arose people who know absolutely nothing about him and would disparage and vilify him. They would accuse him of things that he didn’t have with him. It has come to the extent that they necessitate that everyone who calls to hearing and obeying the leaders (of the Muslims), except when it is in disobedience to Allaah, that they are “Jaami“. In fact, it has come to be that this word is associated with a form of oppression. (They say:) “If you do not agree with us, we’ll categorize you as a ‘Jaami’” By Allaah, ascription to Shaykh Muhammad Amaan is not an insult, rather -by Allaah- it is an honor based on what he was upon regarding his protection of Tawheed and Sunnah. By Allaah, I have have not heard from him anything in his classes or tapes that opposes what the scholars are upon, from the time of the Salaf-as-Saalih (pious predecessors) to this time of ours.
One time I said to some of them, “Bring me one sentence in the (usool) foundations where Shaykh Muhammad Amaan -رحمه الله- opposed the scholars from the earliest scholars to the later scholars from Ahlus Sunnah.” By Allaah, we do not know of its existence. However, desires deafen and blind. You will be surprised by (some) people who praise individuals who are referred to as “callers” – and not all of them- yet they have deviant creed, deviant ideology, and deviance in the Sunnah; and they’ll vilify Shaykh Muhammad Amaan -رحمه الله- and they don’t know a single deviance from him. Rather, they follow the people of falsehood that attribute this matter to him.
We ask Allaah to bestow upon us a pure heart that speaks the truth regarding the Truth and defends the people of Truth with truth. I ask Allaah -عز وجل- by His beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes to guide all the deviants among the Muslims in every place and to unite the word of the Muslims upon guidance and Sunnah.
