Description: 20 Lines/Page | Arabic  Paper, no watermarks | Surah titles, Roundels at end of Ayaat, and marginal medallions in gold ink, black ink for Surah text with diacritics in red | The script is Eastern ‘Abbaasi (or Eastern Kufic) style from Persia, popular in 11th (391H/1001CE to 494H/1100) and 12th (494H/1101CE to 597H/1200CE) Century Manuscripts. |

Incipit: وَقَالُوا أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا وَرُفَاتًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقًا جَدِيدًا ;

Explicit: وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُوا فَقَالُوا

Provenance: Previously owned by a Professor who collected antiques (anonymous).The former owner’s son-in-law included a page from the catalog “Pages From the Past”, which states that several leaves of this Qur’an manuscript belonged to the “Oriental Collection” at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA. These leaves don’t appear to be in their current collection (not named “the Oriental collection”). However, this folio is a match to the following two folios: There is another leaf of this Qur’an manuscript in the Special Collection of Denison University Archives in Ohio. Another leaf of this manuscript (item #007) appears in “Pages From the Past: Original Leaves From Rare Books and Manuscripts” from the Society of Foliophiles in New York. Several similar, yet larger, manuscript folios of 12th Century Persia has sold at Christie’s (Arts & Textiles of the Islamic auction Sale 14345, Lot 21- April 28, 2017) for $1,902; and (Arts & Textiles of the Islamic auction Sale 5270, Lot 245- 11 April 2014) $7,261; & Sotheby’s (Sale L15220, Lot 58- 22 APRIL 2015) for $5,186
