Based on the style of the Naskh text in comparison with other manuscripts of the Mamluk era in Egypt, I would estimate this is a late 14th century CE / 8th Century Hijri (late 700s/first decade 800’s) manuscript.

Provenance: This manuscript was in the Christie’s Sale # 10428, Lot 246 on April 24, 2015. It was unsold in the auction (Estimate: $2,165 to $ 2,885) and later privately sold for an unknown price.

Research Notes: The script closely matches the style of late 14th century Mamluk manuscripts of Sahih Bukhari (see Christie’s Sale # 11961, Lot 78 of April 21, 2016 & Christie’s Sale # 12283, Lot 11 of October 21, 2016). The closest match of this manuscript is to one that sold in a Capitolium Art auction (Dec. 16, 2016, Lot 0363) for $6,728- that was dated 721H/1321CE. The only difference is the title/carpet page on each manuscripts are different. | Similar manuscripts sold for $3,223 (Christie’s Sale # 5526, Lot 262), $6,447 (Christie’s Sale # 12283, Lot 11) to $ 15,310 (Christie’s Sale #11961, Lot 78)
