This is an autographed work of a compiler and translator, ‘Adil bin ‘Ali bin ‘Adil Hafidh Ash-Shirazi (d. 15th cenury), wherein he compiled 120 Hadeeth from Saheeh al-Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim, leaving out their chains for the purpose of memorizing the Mutoon, and translating it into Persian.

Incipit:هذه ثلاث اربعينات من أصح الأحاديث وأعلاها وأوجزها وأجداها التقطها من صحيحي الامامين ابي عبد الله محمد بن اسماعيل البخاري وابي الحسين مسلم بن الحجاج النيسابوري رضي الله عنهما.;

Explicit: تمت الاربعينات الثلث مع ترجميتها المنظومة |

Provenance: The auctioneers noted that it’s possible based on the inventory format on the first fly-leaf that this belonged to the Hagop Kevorkian Collection, New York (Yet to be verified).

Research Notes: This is a unique compilation that I have only found one other manuscript from the later Ottoman period in the private collection of Professor, Dr. Muhammad bin Turki Al-Turki (uploaded on Alukah on 19/3/1438). This is an autographed manuscript- being written by the author himself. Another manuscript entitled “100 statements from the Leader of the Believers with Persian translation | مائة كلمة لأمير المؤمنين مع ترجمة فارسية منظومة” by Al-Haafidh ‘Aadil bin ‘Ali bin ‘Aadil – who was alive in 903H/1498CE, is found in the Yahuda Collection of the National Library of Israel (Wust, Efraim, 2007, Catalogue of the Arabic, Persian, and Turkish Manuscripts of the Yahuda Collection of the National Library of Israel Vol. 1, pg. 343. Brill. Leiden, NV). This matches the same style in use of Muhaqqaq for the Matn and Small Nasta’liq for the Persian translation in Nadhm style.
