The Colophon states: End of the second quarter of Jaami’ as-Saheeh min Hadeeth Rasoolillaah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the third quarter follows it starting at Kitab al Manaqib “كمل الربع الثاني من الجامع الصحيح من حديث رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وتلوه ان شاء الله اول الربع الثالث كتاب المناقب””. It is missing the first few pages of Kitab al Buyoo’.

Provenance: From a private family collection from Morocco

Research Notes: There are some newspaper clippings used in the pasteboard. The waste-paper glued on the paste boards come from As-Sa’adah (Es-Saada) Newspaper from Tanger, specifically the print in the year 1909-1910CE (1327-1328H). This may help us identify the date, however it cannot be confirmed as there are two possibilities (1) The manuscript is older than the cover, but a date cannot be determined based on the type of paper, which was commonly used in the late 19th Century and 20th century (CE), but was also used sparingly in the 17th century and also in the 18th century; or (2) The manuscript is a few years older than the cover, but around the same time. The former option appears more correct as there is no indication that this is the original cover, it is completely unbound bearing no remnants of the binding. It is more likely that this manuscript comes from the late-18th or 19th century (CE) with a later cover. | A Manuscript of Sahih al-Bukhari, dated 1322H/1904-5CE, sold for $5,237 on Christie’s Sale 6945, Lot 632 on October 5, 2012 in London
