The manuscript has been repaired on the edges. | Sepia Ink in what is an old Maghribi: Qayrawani script- likely bordering Naskh derived from Abbassi. The BnF describes a similar script (#6095) as Maghribi Tunisi, whereas Dr. Abdul-Fattah describes it as old Qayrawani. A similar 5th century manuscript in BnF (Arabe 6151) is described as Neskhi Maghribi. This manuscript is very similar in style to the oldest manuscript of this title (dated 383H) in the Qarawiyeen library in Fez, no. 793 with the exception of the Laam al Waraqiyyah | Cover is a 19th century tanned Morocco style with a flap and blind tooling. | This manuscript is in good condition. |

This manuscript contains about 4 chapters within Kitab Az-Zakat Al-Mashiya wal hub wal Fitr (From a few paragraphs before في قدر ما يعطِي الرجلُ من الزكاةِ، وذكر الاجتهاد في قيمتها to just before the end of: في إلزام زكاة الفطرِ، وذكر مِكْيَلِهَا، ماذا يُخرجُ من الحبوب، وهل يؤدي فيها ثمناً)

Provenance:  from a Private collection

Research Notes: The Muhaqqiq of the first published version (the first 2 volumes) by Dar al Gharb Al Islaami, Beirut (Dr.’Abdul Fattah Muhammad Al Huluw in 1986) and the complete edition (remainder of the volumes) by Dr. Muhammad Hajji in 1999 – citing assistance from the research of German Orientalist, Dr. Miklos Muranyi – noted that there are 11 cataloged manuscripts of this title. Three of them are from the 13th century Hijri (19th CE) in the National Library of Tunisia; Two undated copies, likely later copies, in the Azhar Library; One manuscript dated 1149H in Munich, Germany- all of the aforementioned six manuscripts are written in normal Maghribi script. There are two copies in the Bibliotheque Nationale De France (BnF- Arabe 6151), one in Andalusian script of An-Nadhir al Wujud (Al ‘itq fil Masaa’il al Mustakhrajah min al Asma’a mima laysa fil Mudawaanah) and the other of An-Nudhur min Kitaab al Nawaadir in old Qayrawani script [BnF Arabe 6095] dated 472H. The oldest mentioned by Dr. Abdul-Fattah is written in old Qayrawani script and is dated 383H (no. 793) and has the date 472H and 512H on other folios. It’s in the Khazanah Al-Qarawiyeenn in Fez, Morroco. There is also a fragment of a manuscript dated 384H in the Maktabah Al-Kitaniyah in Morocco- I’m unsure if it’s from the same manuscript as it wasn’t mention by the Muhaqiqeen of this work; There are several fragments in Old Qayrawani script dated 400H in the Qarawiyyeen collection. Finally, there is an extant manuscript in the Hagia Sophia library (Aya Sofia) in Turkey from the 6th century, which the aforementioned BnF manuscript (Arabe 6151) in Andalusi script may belong to. |
