Research Notes:  It’s evident from the text that this Qur’an is not from the Riwaayah of ‘Aasim by way of Hafs. This can be seen with the verse: “ويوم نحشرهم جميعا ثم نقول …” as ‘Aasim reads as “ويوم يحشرهم جميعا ثم يقول”. Aasim and Ya’qoob are the two Qira’aat who recite with ي while the remainder recite with ن. The scribe notes ‘Aasim as ع, Kisaa’ee as ك etc. | This folio follows the common standard in 8th/14th Century Mamluk Qur’ans of an odd number of Ayaat per page (James, 1988, pg. 143). The script and style of this manuscript is similar with noticable variences in the Laam al Waraqiyyah لام الورقية to a 14th century Mamluk bifolium in the Freer Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian (S1998.230) | The Mamluks were former elite soliders of the Ayyubids who ruled Egypt and Syria from 648H/1250CE to 922H/1516-17 CE (James, 1988, pg. 27).
