Biography: He was a Shaafi’ee scholar of Fiqh who authored numerous works in Aadab and Fiqh. He studied under Al-Isnawi and has an explanation of Al Minhaaj (Ref: Al ‘Alaam of Az-Zirkili)

Incipit:لا بَأسَ بِالشُربِ فيما سامَحوكَ بِهِ … وَفي خُروجِ قِطَعِ العَكوفِ جَلى
أكل القوت على الشبع هو البردة قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: (أصل كل داء البردة)

Explicit: حكى شيخنا الشيخ ضياء الدين رحمه الله أنه برأ شخصين اترهنا على أكل كبشين وأن أحدهما التزم أن يأكل كبشه بعظمه وكان ذلك للعلم أن أكل العظم يهضم الطعام فأكله بعظمه فعاش وأما الآخر فأكل اللحم وحده فمات

Research Notes: A manuscript of the Mandhoomah dated 1283H is in the King Abdul Aziz University Library (#1347), and a copy in Dhaahiriyyah (#9023). There is a mandhoomah copy in the Berlin Library (Wetzstein_II_1739). There is an early copy dated 16 Shawwal 1012H in the Arabic Language Library (1031) and scribed by Yusuf bin Ibrahim bin Ahmad ibn Jamus ash-Shafi’ee al Ash’aree and another undated copy as well in the same collection (778) . There are also several manuscripts with the Sharh entitled: “Sharh Mandhumah fi Aadab at-Ta’am wash-Sharab شرح منظومة في آداب الطعام والشراب ” in the Daar al Kutub Adh-Dhaahiriyyah 5921; 6039; 4977 (Dated Sha’ban 1312H and scribed by Yasseen Muhammad al-Manzalawi); There is a copy dated 3rd of Sha’bad 1286 and scribed by Moosa Saalih Al-‘Alwani Al-‘Adawi in a private collection; A copy is in the Sulaymaniyyah library #3182 and it’s dated 1078H and scribed by Muhammad bin Ahmad Al-Wafani al Hanafi; There is a copy in the National Library of Berlin (Petermann_I_689). The earliest copy I’ve found is dated Jumadal II 991H in a private collection.
