Provenance: On the third folio recto, a note marks an event at the “Zaawiyyah Al-Ya’qoobiyyah” in the month of Ramadan in the year 1261 Hijri (1841 CE)- It’s likely referring to the destruction of the Ya’qoobiyyah school and a part of a village as the note depicts. This gives some indication to the date/location of this manuscript. | The manuscript was purchased by a British bookseller in Marakesh. |

Research Notes: This manuscript is the Riwaayah of Abu ‘Ali Husayn bin Muhammad Al-Sadafi from Abil Waleed al-Baaji from Abi Dharr al Harawi from his three teachers: Al-Mustamli, as-Sarkhasi, and al-Kushmihini who all narrated from Al-Farabri who narrated from Al-Bukhari. Professor ‘Abdul-Qadir Shabih al Hamad mentions in his Tahqeeq of Fath-ul-Bari (1/11) that As-Sakhaawi noted that this is the Riwayah that Ibn Hajar relied on in his Fath-ul-Baari. | A Manuscript of Sahih al-Bukhari, dated 1322H/1904-5CE, sold for $5,237 on Christie’s Sale 6945, Lot 632 on October 5, 2012 in London
